Olivia Nelson - Director

Olivia Nelson will be your Director for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Ms. Nelson is a senior at Georgia State University and studies English, concentrating on the British-American relations. Her academic interests are globalism, modern populism, the global West, and the socio-cultural relationships between America, the UK, and Europe. She plans to Master in European policy, and will enter the Foreign Service shortly thereafter. Olivia works as a Resident Assistant and as a researcher in the GSU Political Science department. In her downtime, Ms. Nelson enjoys reading, exploring, and spending as much time in the sun as possible. She aims to impart the idea that the art of politics and diplomacy is a hands-on, experience-based skill that develops over time. Olivia hopes that students’ commitment to their respective delegations, committees, and topics will show in position papers, committee conduct, and quality of resolutions.

Arielle Hooks - Assistant Director

Arielle Hooks will be your Assistant Director for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. As a junior at Georgia State University working on her Bachelors in Political Science with a concentration in International Affairs, Arielle aspires to go to law school. In addition to the Model United Nations Team, She also serves as a Resident Assistant within University Housing. In her free time, Arielle likes to cook, paint, and occasionally binge watch on Netflix. Ms. Arielle is hopeful that students can use this experience to provide insight on challenges faced by refugees meanwhile developing effective, and realistic solutions.

Hebah Malik - Assistant Director

Hebah Malik will be your Assistant Director for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees this year. Hebah is currently a sophomore working on her Bachelors degree in environmental engineering with a minor in political science and works for Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation department. She is a second-generation immigrant as her parents are of Pakistani heritage is unfortunately the youngest of three. In her spare time, Ms. Malik enjoys reading, appreciating the environment, and watching early 2000s rom-coms. She is excited to be a part of the upcoming conference and experiencing the delegates’ problem solving, public speaking, and decision-making skills.
